Halloween is always a fun time of year for busting out your creative juices – with costumes, decorating and food is no exception. Last year, my (Chef Jacqui here) husband and I had a Halloween party and as the food lovers that we are, we asked all guests to bring a themed Halloween treat. We ended up with witch finger cookies, spider cookies and a cheese ball with pipe cleaners sticking out of it to make it look like a spider.

My husband was particularly creative. He made gelatin in a rubber glove, froze it, removed it from the mould and placed it in a bowl of punch so it looked like a hand was coming out of the punch bowl. It was a big hit!

There are lots of neat treats you can make for your Halloween party to wow the guests and add another element of scare. Even little things like adding fake eyeballs to drinks in place of one of the ice cubes can make your event more fun and memorable.

If you still want to stick to a fall theme but with less gore, you can also just use the season itself to help you with food to serve. For instance, try making your own caramel apples or make some pumpkin spice bread and then toast the seeds for a party snack, too.
